Q. How can I save fuel and in doing so save money? A. one: Change your driving style - two: prepare your car |
| Prepare the car
This is done quite simply by ensuring your vehicle is serviced regularly and keep an eye on oil levels etc. The tyres are the correct pressures. Try and avoid having unnecessary roof racks and other un-dynamic devices. (take them off when not needed!). Keep the all up vehicle weight to a minimum, do you really need all that clutter in the boot or other storage areas, do not fill the tank to the full mark (say two thirds?). Avoid unnecessary journeys, perhaps the kids can walk to school? if it is a nice day then the exercise could be beneficial to all. Try and journey share with friends and neighbours. Public transport is not always a bore. Plan more journey time so as to keep your speed down. How many additional ways can you think of to prepare your car to be more economical? |
